How Our Color Contrast Fixes Works
A step-by-step look at the setup, the moving parts, and what you receive when we build your color contrast fixes.
The Technical Details
Contrast is measured, never judged by eye. Every text and interface colour pair is evaluated as a ratio computed from relative luminance, against the WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds: 4.5 to 1 for body text, 3 to 1 for large text at 18.66px bold or 24px regular, and 3 to 1 for interface components and meaningful graphics. Testing covers the states that are routinely missed, including hover, focus, visited, disabled and placeholder text, plus text sitting over background images or gradients where the effective background varies across the element. Fixes are applied at the design token or CSS custom property level so one change propagates consistently rather than being patched per component, and inline style attributes are removed where they override the cascade. Focus indicators are checked for their own contrast against both the component and the page background. Verification is run against the rendered page in a real browser, since a value in a stylesheet is not proof of what a visitor actually sees after the cascade resolves.
